Job Description

Leidos Corporate Information Security Office (CISO), operating within the Digital sector, is a vital division of Leidos, one of the leading industry and technology innovators serving government and commercial customers with smarter, more efficient digital and mission-driven solutions. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, Leidos boasts a global workforce of 47,000 employees and reported annual revenues of approximately $16.7 billion for the fiscal year ending January 3, 2025. The company is committed to advancing technology and services that secure, protect, and support mission-critical operations, fostering a culture of innovation, integrity, and mission excellence.

Currently, Leidos is seeking to hire a highly skilled Linux and Windows System Administrator to join their Corporate Information Security Office team. This position is essential for supporting and maintaining complex classified environments that require stringent security and operational reliability. The role is based onsite at Leidos' Beavercreek, Ohio office and requires candidates to hold an active DoD Secret security clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work environment.

The Linux and Windows System Administrator will be responsible for administering and securing Windows workstations, Windows Server systems, and Linux distributions including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Rocky Linux, and Ubuntu. These systems operate across physical, virtual, and air-gapped infrastructures where maintaining system availability and security compliance is paramount. The administrator plays a critical role in troubleshooting technical issues, executing system patching, vulnerability remediation, and ensuring adherence to configuration management and compliance standards based on DoD requirements and industry best practices.

An important focus of this role includes automation of repetitive administrative tasks using scripting languages and tools such as PowerShell, Bash, and Ansible. The successful candidate will also deploy and maintain operating system images using PXE/network boot, Kickstart, disk imaging, and automated installation methods to streamline the deployment process across multi-platform environments.

The role demands expertise in system hardening using DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), and NIST 800-53 security controls, ensuring that all platforms conform to stringent DoD security policies. The administrator will manage essential networking services like Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file servers, alongside virtualization platforms and Layer 2 network switching configurations, including VLAN setup and TCP/IP connectivity within air-gapped secure environments.

This position supports mission objectives by enabling reliable operation of dual-boot bare-metal and virtualized systems, providing critical after-hours support and participating in on-call rotations. Effective collaboration with various teams—engineering, cybersecurity, and operational stakeholders—is vital to promptly resolve complex technical challenges and maintain system performance and availability.

The Linux and Windows System Administrator role offers a competitive pay range of $69,550 to $125,725 and is an excellent opportunity for experienced IT professionals who thrive in secure, mission-critical environments and are motivated by continuous technical challenges and advancements in cybersecurity. Leidos values employees who challenge the status quo and constantly strive toward innovative solutions, aligning with the company's commitment to embrace forward-thinking strategies and deliver outstanding results for its customers. Employment benefits include health and wellness programs, income protection, paid leave, retirement options, and other employee-focused incentives detailed on Leidos' careers website.
