Job Description

Cargill is a global family-owned company dedicated to providing food and agricultural solutions that nourish the world in a safe, responsible, and sustainable way. Founded over a century ago, the company operates at the heart of the supply chain and collaborates closely with producers and customers to source, manufacture, and deliver essential products related to food and agriculture. Cargill’s portfolio extends across a diverse range of categories, including poultry, beef, eggs, alternative proteins, salt, oils, starches, sweeteners, cocoa, and chocolate, demonstrating its vast influence and commitment to innovation in the food industry.

The opportunity is within Cargill’s Food Enterprise, a sector devoted to serving food manufacturers, food service providers, and retailers by offering a comprehensive lineup of innovative ingredients and branded products. This division prioritizes quality and food safety to uphold the highest standards in the food production sector. Cargill’s operational excellence is supported by ongoing investments in technology, sustainability, and employee development, ensuring that product delivery meets both customer needs and regulatory guidelines.

This role, Process Operator II, is based at the Dayton, Ohio facility, which remains operational under Cargill’s plan to close the site in the future, currently expected to continue through at least November 2027. The position offers a full-time, night shift schedule from 10 pm to 6:30 am, with a competitive hourly wage of $22.00 plus a shift differential of $0.60 per hour.

As a Process Operator II, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of machines and equipment involved in food production. This role requires a broad understanding of operational policies and procedures combined with practical hands-on experience. The primary objective is to maximize production throughput while ensuring the quality of the finished product adheres strictly to all food safety and regulatory policies. You will use critical thinking and good judgment in adjusting machine processes to maintain efficiency and product standards.

You will also operate mobile powered equipment such as forklifts and skid loaders, perform preventative and autonomous maintenance using hand and power tools, and monitor multiple process variables through control systems. This role involves working with control systems that manage complex machine interactions and requires adherence to all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Training will be provided to familiarize you with operating procedures, and you’ll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on operational clarity and efficiency.

Cargill values inclusivity, offering a supportive and accessible recruitment process. The company encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including people with disabilities, by providing necessary accommodations throughout hiring and employment. Joining Cargill means becoming part of one of the world’s largest privately held companies, known for a fast-paced, international environment that fosters career growth, innovation, and the development of your talents. Competitive salaries and benefits complement a workplace culture committed to sustainability, inclusion, and long-term success.
