The position of Line Driver at Carlile Transportation is pivotal in maintaining smooth freight operations between terminals and warehouses. This role demands a professional driver who prioritizes safety and compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines. As a Line Driver, you are responsible for the operation of trucks and trailers for multi-state and multi-province transportation, ensuring that all cargo is handled securely and delivered on time with exceptional customer service. The role requires you to perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicles to identify any defects and report them promptly. Additionally, you will be expected to maintain accurate driver and maintenance logs in accordance with federal and company regulations.

The Line Driver must demonstrate ability in efficient driving practices while strictly adhering to Carlile and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Beyond driving, the role includes logistical tasks such as spotting trailers at the warehouse, chocking wheels for safety, assisting with load and unload operations when necessary, and executing emergency roadside repairs if required. Clear and consistent communication with terminal dispatchers is crucial for the smooth handling of work instructions and reporting of any safety hazards or incidents.

Handling hazardous materials is an important part of this job, so a Hazardous Materials Endorsement is mandatory and must be obtained within 30 days of hire. The role also involves the responsibility to ensure that all cargo is secured according to FMCSR (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) and company policies. You will need to maintain cleanliness and good condition of the trailer, cab, windows, and mirrors at all times.

This full-time position offers a competitive base hourly rate ranging between $32.50 and $39.50 based on your experience and qualifications. Job Duties

  • Prioritize safety by operating in full compliance with all HSE policies and procedures
  • inspect vehicles thoroughly both pre-trip and post-trip, promptly reporting any defects
  • drive various trucks and equipment efficiently, adhering to state, federal, and Carlile regulations
  • maintain accurate driver and maintenance logs electronically and manually in compliance with regulations
  • deliver and pick up freight while providing exceptional customer service
  • stay updated on multi-state DOT regulations and multi-Canadian province regulations
  • spot trailers at the warehouse, chock wheels, and assist with loading/unloading when necessary
  • maintain regular communication with terminal dispatcher to receive instructions and report safety hazards or incidents
  • perform emergency roadside repairs when needed
  • ensure cargo is properly secured according to FMCSRs and company policies
  • keep trailer, cab, windows, and mirrors clean and well maintained
  • review paperwork for discrepancies, ensure proper placarding for HAZMAT hauls, and submit reports
  • perform freight pickup and delivery between terminals
  • break sets, hook your own sets if needed, and park trailers in designated areas
  • conduct general vehicle maintenance as necessary
