The full-time Line Cook position at Argonaut Hotel plays a crucial role in maintaining the high food quality standards expected by guests at the Blue Mermaid Restaurant & Bar. This role involves preparing and presenting dishes consistent with the restaurant's culinary goals while complying with standard cooking methods, portion sizes, and quality benchmarks. The Line Cook ensures all food is produced efficiently, maintaining a clean and sanitary workstation, and assisting in daily cleaning tasks across various kitchen areas. The job demands a passion for food, the ability to work well under pressure, and teamwork skills to contribute to a professional and creative culinary environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food handler certification
  • Previous cooking experience preferred
  • Ability to work full-time hours
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to follow safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience in a restaurant or high volume full-service kitchen
  • Food handler certification
  • Trained in knife skills and basic kitchen equipment
  • Ability to multi-task under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish positive rapport with diverse personalities

Job Duties

  • Manage culinary functions to meet food quality goals
  • Know and comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen rules
  • Stock and maintain sufficient food levels at line stations
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation and kitchen equipment
  • Provide excellent quality and presentation of all food
  • Produce food in a timely manner while educating servers on the menu
  • Assist in daily cleaning of the pantry, cooking line, prep kitchen, dish area, and refrigeration areas
