The winery emphasizes low-intervention winemaking and has a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture practices. Ponzi Vineyards stands out in the wine industry for its dedication to quality, tradition, and innovation, creating wines that truly reflect the unique characteristics of their vineyards. As a respected and family-owned winery, Ponzi is known for fostering a warm and welcoming environment for both guests and employees, consistently delivering exceptional wine tasting and event experiences. The establishment prides itself on its guest-centered hospitality and the harmonious blend of classic winemaking with modern sustainability initiatives, positioning Ponzi Vineyards as an industry leader in Oregon and beyond.
The role of Line Cook / Prep Cook at Ponzi Vineyards offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant team that supports the winery's hospitality operations. This position involves working closely with the Executive Chef and Hospitality Manager to prepare and serve food that complements Ponzi's acclaimed wine offerings. The ideal candidate for this role thrives in a collaborative setting, demonstrating a spirit of warm hospitality, professionalism, and adaptability. Familiarity with wine production is preferred but not required, providing an enriching learning environment for culinary professionals passionate about the food and wine pairing culture.
The Line Cook is responsible for supporting food operations that include crafting small plates for the tasting room menu, which are thoughtfully designed to enhance the guest experience alongside the winery’s wines. The role also involves contributing to club events for wine club members, seasonal tasting room events, and a variety of private and public gatherings such as family-style dinners, corporate retreats, guided winery tours, and special culinary experiences like food and wine pairings or outdoor activities. This position includes involvement in creating seasonal feature menu items and preparing nourishing harvest meals to support the winemaking team during critical periods. This diverse range of duties offers a unique opportunity to develop culinary skills while being embedded in a dynamic and culturally rich hospitality environment.
Working at Ponzi Vineyards means being part of a team that values professionalism, cleanliness, and impeccable kitchen etiquette. The Line Cook will maintain organized workspaces including walk-in coolers and dry storage, assist with dishwashing and support the tasting room team during service, handle weekly orders, and contribute to inventory management. The schedule typically spans Wednesday through Sunday with variable hours to accommodate events, including occasional evenings. Physical stamina is essential, as the job requires standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. The position demands a polished appearance and strong communication skills, along with reliable personal transportation. The role is compensated hourly based on experience, with pay ranging from $20.00 to $32.00 per hour and includes additional tips and gratuities. This full-time position offers approximately 35 or more hours weekly and comes with employee discounts and paid time off. Overall, joining Ponzi Vineyards as a Line Cook / Prep Cook means becoming part of a respected winery dedicated to exceptional food, wine, and hospitality experiences.
