Job Description
Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group is a vibrant and expanding restaurant company that originated from a small establishment in New Orleans' Mid-City neighborhood. Known for capturing the essence of New Orleans' rich culinary heritage, the group operates two prominent brands, Ruby Slipper and Ruby Sunshine, with over 20 restaurants throughout the Southeastern United States. Their unique concept focuses exclusively on brunch, serving breakfast and lunch with a commitment to quality and tradition, which allows team members to enjoy a valuable work-life balance by working days only. The company has built a strong reputation for delivering exceptional food and service that reflects the spirit and soul of New Orleans cuisine, making it a sought-after employer in the restaurant industry. With a family-oriented culture and an emphasis on growth, Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group offers a dynamic and supportive environment where employees can thrive and advance in their careers.
This particular position invites candidates to become a Ruby Krewe member, joining a kitchen team dedicated to preparing hot food products with accuracy and efficiency. The role involves food preparation, portioning ingredients before cooking, and the final plating and garnishing of dishes to maintain presentation standards. Members must adhere strictly to Ruby Standards, recipes, portion sizes, and cooking methods to uphold the quality for which the Ruby Slipper brand is known. Maintaining a clean, sanitary work area is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with both kitchen and front-of-house staff. This role requires physical stamina as employees frequently lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, reach, and stand for extended periods, sometimes up to 10 hours. The kitchen environment is fast-paced, testing the candidates' ability to stay organized and efficient while ensuring all food safety and quality protocols are met.
Joining Ruby Slipper means more than just a job; it means being part of a culture that believes "butter and bacon make everything better." Work-life balance is emphasized by the commitment to day shifts only, allowing team members to earn a fair wage while returning home in time for dinner. There is a strong focus on career growth with opportunities for pay increases and personal development. The company also supports the health and well-being of its employees by offering medical and dental insurance as part of its benefits package, along with paid time off to encourage rest and rejuvenation. Additional perks like family meals and discounts help foster a welcoming atmosphere for all staff, reinforcing the familial culture that Ruby Slipper fosters. This role is perfect for individuals with at least one year of kitchen preparation and cooking experience who want to work in an energetic, reputable restaurant group dedicated to Southern hospitality and culinary excellence.
