Job Description
Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group is a flourishing hospitality company that originated from a modest eatery nestled in New Orleans' vibrant Mid-City neighborhood. Since its inception, the group has expanded impressively to operate over 20 restaurants across the Southeastern United States under two distinctive brands: Ruby Slipper and Ruby Sunshine. These restaurant concepts celebrate the culture and culinary traditions of New Orleans, specializing in an all-day brunch experience that offers a delightful blend of breakfast and lunch dishes infused with the spirited soul of the Big Easy. Ruby Slippers' strong commitment to quality, community, and culture has positioned it as a favored dining destination, appealing to locals and visitors alike. Their focus on maintaining authentic flavors and high standards continues to drive their growth trajectory, promising exciting opportunities for new team members who share their passion.
The role available at Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group is that of a Cook, a critical position responsible for delivering exceptional food preparation and ensuring consistency in the quality of menu items. This role is designed for individuals who value the art of cooking and are dedicated to upholding Ruby’s meticulous standards and recipes. As a cook within this celebrated brand, you will be contributing directly to customer satisfaction by preparing hot food products accurately and efficiently, managing proper portioning before cooking, and engaging in the final steps of meal presentation including plating and garnishing. The job emphasizes the importance of maintaining a clean and organized workstation, following established kitchen policies, portion sizes, and cooking methods that guarantee the beloved taste and quality Ruby Slipper's customers expect.
What makes this opportunity particularly attractive is the work schedule; Ruby Slipper operates strictly during breakfast and lunch hours, allowing team members to enjoy the balance of making their income while still having evenings free for personal time. The workplace culture celebrates camaraderie, evident in their use of the term "Ruby Krewe Member" for employees, fostering a sense of belonging and shared enthusiasm for culinary excellence. Working here means believing in the value of key ingredients like butter and bacon that elevate dishes, clear communication with fellow kitchen and front-of-house staff, and a commitment to physical endurance given the demands of the role including standing for long hours and managing a physically active workday.
The position requires at least one year of kitchen experience to ensure familiarity with food preparation routines and the ability to adhere to demanding standards. Employees have opportunities to grow with the company through chances for pay increases and career advancement. Benefits offered enhance the overall work experience, including medical and dental insurance, paid time off, family meals, and employee discounts. Ruby Slipper Restaurant Group values its team and invests in creating an environment where employees feel supported and motivated to succeed.
