The Line Cook position at Fish City Grill is integral to maintaining the restaurant's standards of quality and service. This role is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting seafood dishes according to the company’s recipes and specifications with pride and attention to detail. The Line Cook is expected to uphold the highest standards of safety, sanitation, and food handling while maintaining an organized and efficient workstation. The role requires a servant leadership mindset, focusing on teamwork and excellent customer service to ensure a positive dining experience for every guest.

In this role, the Line Cook will engage in various kitchen duties, including prepping ingredients, managing cooking stations, and adhering to ticket times to provide timely service. Maintaining energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout shifts is essential, as well as complying with all company policies and local health regulations. The position involves proper use and maintenance of kitchen tools and equipment, as well as following strict food safety guidelines such as handling food at critical temperatures, avoiding cross-contamination, and following FIFO (first in, first out) product rotation.

The Line Cook will also assist in receiving deliveries, rotating and storing products correctly, and maintaining clean storage areas such as walk-ins and freezers. This role supports other team members by learning multiple line positions to foster teamwork during busy periods, providing a collaborative work environment. Additionally, the Line Cook will ensure the accurate recording of waste and assist management with various tasks related to kitchen operation and customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

  • must be able to spend 100% of working time standing, walking, and reaching
  • able to push, pull, and lift objects from lower to higher positions or horizontally
  • maintain body equilibrium on narrow, slippery, or moving surfaces
  • able to climb ladders, stairs, and ramps
  • frequently carry loads greater than 50 pounds
  • must communicate clearly in the restaurant’s primary language
  • hearing at normal speaking levels with or without correction
  • vision including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and adjustment focus
  • high school degree or GED preferred
  • culinary degree or equivalent preferred
  • six months to one year minimum experience as a prep/line cook in a full service restaurant
