The candidate will apply knowledge of food prep methods, professional cooking techniques, and safety protocols, ensuring that all operations comply with regulatory requirements. A significant part of the role also includes operating various tools and programs such as POS systems, Excel, and Word to facilitate inventory, costing, and reporting.

This job demands at least 18 years of age, a commitment to professionalism in appearance and behavior, and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining calmness and composure. The candidate must also hold necessary certifications like Food Safety and Sanitation and must have experience in kitchen management or supervision. Physical stamina is essential, with the role requiring constant standing for up to 12 hours, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The job includes working various shifts including days, nights, weekends, and some holidays, which requires flexibility and dedication.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess general knowledge of professional food preparation methods and operations
  • Experience in food preparation in a restaurant, kitchen or dining area
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and the general public
  • Ability to perform duties in a clean and professional manner
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 35 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to use manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • State of Louisiana Serv Safe Food Handler Certification
  • Valid Responsible Vendor License
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends and some holidays
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions
  • Ability to speak and hear
  • Have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjusted focus
  • Constant standing with some walking

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in the food preparation field in a restaurant, kitchen or dining area
  • Knowledge of food preparation methods and kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of food costing, inventory, POS programs, Excel, Word and other computer programs
  • Experience managing employees
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform duties in a clean and professional appearance and manner
  • Intermediate understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
  • Previous kitchen management or supervisory experience

Job Duties

  • Prepare food items and ingredients according to recipes and standards
  • Manage kitchen operations including inventory control and food costing

  • Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance in the kitchen
  • Operate POS systems, computer programs like Excel and Word for reporting and inventory
