Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • culinary school education or related training is a plus
  • previous experience in a kitchen or as a line cook preferred but not required
  • ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and handle pressure
  • knowledge of food preparation techniques, kitchen equipment, and safety standards
  • strong knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety
  • ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize
  • good communication skills
  • ability to work well as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook food items according to standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines
  • ensure all dishes are cooked to the correct temperatures and meet quality standards
  • maintain a clean and organized workstation while preparing ingredients
  • follow instructions from kitchen manager or chef to ensure consistency
  • season and cook food according to recipes or customer preferences
  • ensure food is plated according to restaurant standards
  • keep workstations clean and organized
  • follow health and safety regulations
  • ensure kitchen appliances and cooking equipment are properly maintained and cleaned
  • perform regular cleaning of kitchen areas
  • help track inventory levels of kitchen supplies and ingredients
  • assist in receiving and storing deliveries properly
  • report low inventory or supply shortages
  • work with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation
  • communicate effectively with front-of-house staff
  • assist in training new cooks or kitchen staff
  • adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of food items
  • maintain awareness of allergen protocols
  • work efficiently to prepare and cook dishes within specified timeframes
  • manage multiple orders and tasks simultaneously during peak service times
