Job Duties

  • Prepare, season, and cook dishes such as soups, meats, vegetables, or desserts
  • provide departmental training and development
  • supervise and participate in kitchen and dining area cleaning activities
  • estimate ingredients and supplies required to prepare recipes
  • resolve customer complaints regarding food service
  • control inventories of food, equipment, small ware, and liquor and report shortages to designated personnel
  • follow recipes and read work orders, instructions, formulas, or processing charts
  • determine food portions
  • identify cuts or grades of meat
  • recognize customer intoxication
  • understand government health, hotel, or food service regulations
  • assist in menu development and food decoration
  • monitor food waste and requisition stock, materials, supplies, or equipment
  • operate baking, cooking, and food preparation equipment
