Job Requirements
- be 18 years of age or older
- hold a high school diploma or equivalent
- possess a current California Food Handlers Certificate
- demonstrate effective communication skills in English and some Spanish
- be physically able to stand for long hours and lift up to 50 pounds
- maintain proper hygiene and uniform standards
- display professionalism and ethical conduct
- have stamina for a minimum 40-hour work week including weekends and holidays
- be able to safely lift and carry trays weighing up to 40 pounds
- be self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma
- preferred formal culinary education
- current California Food Handlers Certificate
- effective oral communication skills
- ability to speak and understand English and some Spanish
- basic math skills
- ability to work as a team player
- well groomed with proper uniform and tools
- adherence to ethical and professional standards
- ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Job Duties
- promote and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Sycamore
- act with integrity, honesty and knowledge to uphold the culture and values of the restaurant
- contribute to a respectful work environment and provide opportunities for staff development
- arrive ready to work at the start of each shift
- understand and execute menu components to Sycamore’s standards
- maintain cleanliness and organize workstations after every project
- follow recipe processes to ensure consistency and quality
- write prep and mise en place lists and communicate with following shifts
- coordinate daily tasks with sous chef and other kitchen staff
- own and manage assigned stations including prep work
- assist team members as needed
- work independently without constant supervision
- clean equipment and workspaces thoroughly
- communicate respectfully and professionally
- maximize efficiency and time management during shifts
- work gracefully in a high-volume environment
- ask for help when necessary
- ensure safety practices are followed to prevent harm
- exhibit self-motivation and work without supervision when needed
