The brewery is currently seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join their kitchen team as Prep Cooks. This role is pivotal in supporting the kitchen's operations by assisting Chefs and other cooking staff in preparing menu items that meet high-quality standards. Prep Cooks are entrusted with maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering strictly to recipes and food safety protocols, and ensuring the timely preparation of menu items. This position is available on both a full-time and part-time basis under non-exempt, hourly employment terms, with direct supervision from the Chef on Duty. The role demands physical endurance, the ability to multitask during high-volume periods, and a cooperative spirit that contributes to a positive team dynamic.

In this capacity, Prep Cooks are responsible for preparing food with attention to detail regarding presentation and taste, managing kitchen equipment effectively, and assisting in inventory management by stocking ingredients and supplies. The job requires a commitment to maintaining sanitary conditions, safeguarding customer health, and supporting a harassment-free workplace. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, a willingness to collaborate, and the ability to perform various janitorial tasks to uphold the kitchen's cleanliness standards. The role also entails coordination with other cooks and frontline staff to ensure that food preparation aligns with operational demands and follows food handling mandates.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Current food handler's permit required
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Ability to work all days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to learn basic cooking skills and food safety practices
  • Physical ability to lift 10 to 50 pounds frequently
  • Ability to stand, walk, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and perform kitchen duties
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to handle high-stress environments

Job Duties

  • Prepares all menu items with adherence to recipes and quality standards
  • Supports food quality and presentation standards
  • Sets up and stocks station at the start of shifts
  • Maintains ingredient stock throughout shifts
  • Monitors food preparation temperatures
  • Manages and maintains kitchen equipment cleanliness and condition
  • Coordinates timing of menu item preparation with team
  • Assists management and cooks during high volume periods
  • Stocks cook line, freezers, and shelves
  • Cleans work stations and completes janitorial tasks at shift end
