Job Description

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is seeking seasonal Line Cooks to join their team at Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. Delaware North Parks and Resorts is a globally recognized hospitality and food service company with over 100 years of experience providing exceptional guest services across various venues, including national parks, stadiums, resorts, and casinos. Known for its commitment to quality, innovation, and employee growth, Delaware North offers a dynamic and supportive work environment where employees are valued and given opportunities for career advancement.

Shenandoah National Park, located in Virginia, spans over 200,000 acres of protected lands filled with waterfalls, scenic vistas, wooded hollows, and over 500 miles of hiking trails. It is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy camping, biking, fishing, horseback riding, and other outdoor activities. Working at Shenandoah offers the unique opportunity to be part of a tight-knit team while living and working within this natural wonder.

This seasonal Line Cook position offers an hourly wage of $19.00 and provides an incentive of $500.00 to eligible team members who work through the season end date of November 29th, 2026. The role involves preparing dishes according to recipes and chef instructions, ensuring food safety and quality standards. It is an ideal job for individuals who enjoy a fast-paced kitchen environment, love working with guests from around the world, and seek hands-on culinary experience.

In this role, you will measure, portion, and cook food items promptly while maintaining proper food temperatures and storage practices. You will also take part in opening, closing, and side work duties, keeping the workstation and equipment organized and clean, and managing waste control by recording spoilage accurately. Delaware North values teamwork and precision, expecting cooks to execute tasks efficiently and uphold high standards.

The position does not require a high school diploma or GED, making it accessible to many. However, candidates should have at least one year of experience as a line or prep cook and be capable of prioritizing food orders with speed and accuracy. Basic math skills are necessary to follow recipe measurements and proportions. Physical demands include manual dexterity to chop, mix, and blend foods, standing and walking for extended periods, the ability to carry large pans up to 50 pounds, and exposure to varying kitchen temperatures.

Team members at Shenandoah National Park can benefit from low-cost, recently updated dormitory housing at $100 per week, including utilities and Wi-Fi. Those residing 50 or more miles from the worksite receive free daily meals, and free rides to nearby Luray are provided for dorm residents. Employee discounts of 30 percent on most items, weekly pay, and free shift meals contribute to the supportive work environment. Additionally, training and development opportunities offer pathways for internal mobility and career growth, including chances to work at other Delaware North locations nationwide.

Delaware North is committed to equal employment opportunities and embraces diversity and inclusion within its workforce. As part of a global legacy, employees become a member of an extensive network focused on hospitality excellence across multiple industries.

This role offers a unique blend of culinary skill development and an exceptional lifestyle amid one of America’s most beautiful national parks. If you are motivated by fast-paced work environments, enjoy collaborating with a diverse team, and want to grow professionally while enjoying incredible outdoor recreation, this Line Cook position at Shenandoah National Park is the perfect fit.
