Job Description
Moonlight Basin is a premier private club nestled in the breathtaking alpine landscape of Big Sky, Montana, spread across over 8,000 acres. This prestigious resort offers a unique blend of natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and elevated private club living. Known for its world-class skiing and golf offerings, Moonlight Basin is also a haven for hiking, biking, and fly fishing enthusiasts, creating an unmatched lifestyle for its members and team alike. The resort’s culture is deeply rooted in excellence, hospitality, and the spirit of the mountains, making it an extraordinary place to work and grow professionally in the hospitality industry.
The opportunity at Moonlight Basin is designed for individuals passionate about culinary arts and dedicated to delivering superb food quality and guest experiences. The resort’s culinary program emphasizes warm hospitality and consistent excellence, offering a collection of handcrafted and distinctive restaurant concepts that reflect the character of Big Sky. As a Line Cook at Moonlight Basin, you play a critical role in this culinary vision by working closely with the culinary leadership team to prepare and execute top-tier dishes that meet the high expectations of both members and guests. This position is essential in maintaining the resort’s reputation for exceptional dining experiences, across both the restaurant and banquet operations.
This role demands culinary skill, precision, and a genuine passion for food quality and presentation. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing all menu items according to clearly defined recipes and standards, setting up and breaking down workstations efficiently, and maintaining impeccable hygiene and safety practices. The ability to work calmly and efficiently in a high-energy, fast-paced environment is critical for success, as is a team-oriented work ethic. Although the role does not include supervisory responsibilities, it offers a dynamic work environment where you will support the culinary team during peak service periods, banquets, and special events, ensuring every plate served aligns with Moonlight Basin’s commitment to excellence.
In addition to the hands-on culinary work, the position offers rich opportunities for growth and development within a renowned private club setting. The employee benefits extend beyond competitive wages to include valuable perks such as health, dental, and vision insurance, a matching 401(k) plan without a vesting schedule, employee appreciation bonuses, complimentary meals, wellness programs encouraging active lifestyles, retail discounts, employee housing options, and transportation services. This supports not only your professional career but also a balanced, healthy lifestyle in a stunning natural setting.
Working conditions in this role are physically demanding and take place primarily in a kitchen environment with varied temperatures, including hot, humid areas near cooking stations. Flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary given the operational hours of the resort’s food and beverage service. Overall, this job is ideal for someone passionate about culinary arts who also appreciates the unique lifestyle offered by Big Sky, Montana, and the enriching culture of Moonlight Basin.
