The Line Cook / Prep Cook role at JOEY Restaurants entails preparing and delivering exceptional culinary experiences with consistency, precision, and a thorough understanding of preparation techniques. Employees in this role are expected to uphold the highest standards of quality while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. The position offers a base hourly wage of $17.13, which aligns with the Washington State minimum wage, along with eligibility for participation in the company’s tip pool. Tip earnings typically range from $2.00 to $15.00 per hour, although distributions can fluctuate.
As a Line Cook / Prep Cook, you will be an integral part of the kitchen team, mastering various cooking methods such as washing, chopping, grilling, roasting, sautéing, and frying. Your knife skills will be developed to enhance efficiency and safety in food preparation. You'll work closely with other stations to ensure smooth coordination of food preparation and delivery, while also maintaining sanitation standards in all prep and cooking areas. Responsibilities include cleaning and organizing refrigerators, ovens, storage spaces, completing side work and closing duties to support your team, and following all safety regulations related to kitchen equipment and food handling.

Job Requirements
- 1-3+ years culinary experience
- Must have or be able to obtain valid local and/or state Food Handler permits
- Be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
- Frequent bending, reaching, and stretching
- Perform repetitive manual tasks
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs

Job Duties
- Prep all ingredients and food products to fulfill prep lists, par levels, and recipe standards
- Utilize various prep and cooking methods to ensure the quick, precise creation of menu items in accordance with JOEY recipes
- Develop knife skills for efficiency and safety
- Communicate with the team to deliver perfect food coordination
- Maintain prep and cooking areas in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner
- Clean, organize, and maintain refrigerators, cooler drawers, ovens, prep and dry storage areas
- Complete assigned side work and closing duties to set your team up for success
- Follow all instructions and guidelines for safe usage of kitchen equipment and cleaning compounds
- Report equipment problems and maintenance issues to leadership immediately
- Follow all food service and handling safety precautions and procedures
