Baywood Court is a distinguished not-for-profit senior living community located in the heart of Castro Valley. We are currently seeking a motivated, service-minded individual to join our team as a full-time Line Cook. This role plays a crucial part in supporting the health and well-being of our residents by preparing nutritious, delicious meals that meet dietary specifications and standards. This opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about cooking and eager to contribute positively to the lives of seniors. Working Thursday to Monday from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, including weekends and holidays as required, the Line Cook will be employed in a dynamic 24/7 environment that values dedication and teamwork. Compensation starts between $23.00 and $25.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of this role within the community.
The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes using established recipes while ensuring that every meal maintains excellence in quality and presentation. The position demands attention to detail, a strong understanding of food safety, and the ability to manage kitchen operations effectively. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and willing to complete an online employment application for consideration.

Job Requirements
- Must be able to work full-time Thursday to Monday including weekends and holidays
- must complete online employment application
- must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day
- ability to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently
- manual dexterity for preparing food
- ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively
- pass 4-panel drug screening
- pass physical exam with tuberculosis skin test
- clear criminal background check including FBI and Department of Justice clearance, minor misdemeanors and DUIs included
- willingness to work in a 24/7 facility
- ability to work in extreme temperatures and with industrial cleaning chemicals
Job Qualifications
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English
- effective communication skills
- ability to perform simple arithmetic
- knowledge of measurements and conversions
- ability to plan and organize work
- ability to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards
- knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
- some knowledge of nutrition and diet
- previous cooking experience preferred
Job Duties
- Prepares all soups, stocks, sauces
- boils, braises and roasts items as per standardized recipes
- prepares and serves all sauteed, fried, grilled, steamed and baked items as per standardized recipes
- prepares or directs the preparation of all food served, following standard recipes and special diet orders
- plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours, so that excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food is preserved
- determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus and ensures that supplies are obtained in adequate time for meal production
- maintains cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
- follows food safety and sanitation guidelines
