Job Description

Shawarma Guys is a highly acclaimed restaurant group based in San Diego, CA, known nationally as the #1 Shawarma in the country. Having been featured prominently on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with celebrity chef Guy Fieri and honored by Yelp as the #1 Restaurant in the Nation in 2020, Shawarma Guys has grown from a single food truck to multiple successful brick-and-mortar locations. With strong roots in Middle Eastern cuisine and a passionate commitment to quality, consistency, and craft, the restaurant group is currently expanding and seeks to build a robust team of culinary professionals who share the same values and ambition.

As a part-time Line Cook or Prep Cook at Shawarma Guys, you will play an essential role in delivering the distinctive flavors and high-quality food that have made this establishment a national sensation. This position offers a starting wage of $19.00 per hour once the introductory period is successfully completed, with shared tips averaging between $3 and $6 per hour depending on location. Additionally, the role offers a structured growth plan with salary reviews at 60 days, 8 months, and 14 months, potentially increasing hourly wages by up to $3 within 14 months, along with advancement opportunities into assistant-level roles earning up to $24.00 per hour.

Working at Shawarma Guys means being part of a fast-paced, team-oriented environment that values professionalism, reliability, and quality workmanship. You will be responsible for preparing and executing all menu items according to standardized recipes and company standards, performing daily prep tasks such as marinating proteins and preparing sides, and ensuring accurate food weights and portion controls. Maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation and adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation protocols are critical elements of your job.

The Team at Shawarma Guys prides itself on collaboration and seamless kitchen operations. You'll work closely with your kitchen team to ensure smooth service during busy hours, demonstrating efficiency and a strong sense of urgency. The role also involves inventory control, supply organization, and maintaining full compliance with health and safety regulations. While the company does not require prior experience with Middle Eastern cuisine, familiarity with shawarma or similar dishes is considered a plus.

Shawarma Guys offers a competitive benefits package including a 401(k) retirement savings plan (without company match), paid training, flexible scheduling with consistent hours, and employee discounts on meals and beverages, along with paid sick time in accordance with California law. The company is committed to employee development, with clear professional growth paths based on performance and skill enhancement.

Shawarma Guys is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The company welcomes applicants of all backgrounds and identities, ensuring a respectful and supportive work environment. If you are motivated, dependable, and passionate about food and teamwork, this could be a rewarding opportunity to grow your culinary career in a nationally recognized restaurant group that values your contributions and invests in your future.
