The Lakefront Anchorage Hotel, formerly known as the Millennium Hotel, is a distinguished hospitality establishment located in Anchorage, Alaska. Nestled on the serene shores of Lake Spenard, just one mile from Anchorage International Airport and four miles from downtown Anchorage, this hotel serves as an ideal gateway for exploring the diverse attractions and breathtaking natural beauty of Alaska. Boasting 248 well-appointed rooms and featuring three exceptional food and beverage venues, the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel is committed to delivering an unforgettable guest experience marked by comfort, quality, and outstanding service.

We are currently seeking a dedicated part-time seasonal Line Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. The Line Cook will play a crucial role in maintaining our high standards of food preparation and presentation, ensuring each dish impresses our guests and encourages repeat visits. This position is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, are passionate about culinary arts, and are committed to cleanliness and safety. The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing meals in accordance with our established recipes and standards, managing meal portions, maintaining a sanitized work environment, and assisting with various kitchen operations to support smooth service flow.

The ideal candidate will bring at least one year of experience working in busy kitchens, with a strong understanding of cooking techniques, kitchen cleanliness, and inventory handling. Attention to detail, especially in food presentation and garnishing, is essential to uphold the hotel's culinary excellence. Additionally, the role demands the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and as a team player, and comply with food safety regulations, including holding a valid food handler’s card. Physical stamina is also necessary, as the job may require lifting 20-40 pounds regularly.

Job Requirements

  • At least one year of cooking experience
  • Knowledge of kitchen cleanliness
  • Ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage multiple priorities in a demanding work environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must be able to lift at least 20-40 pounds regularly
  • Completes work in a timely manner and works quickly
  • Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Must have a valid food handlers' card
  • Patience, tact and diplomacy

Job Duties

  • Prepares all the food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Follows recipes, controls, portion, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant
  • Assumes 100 percent responsibility for quality of the products served
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the manager
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes
  • Tracks and reports any food waste
  • Properly handles, stores and rotates all products
  • Prepares dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Is responsible for station set-up, breakdown, and all advance prep work
  • Keeps stations clean and well stocked with menu ingredients
  • Keeps the kitchen clean and sanitized
  • Monitors and oversees food temperatures during hot and cold handling
  • Communicates with management product deficiencies, equipment, and safety issues
