Job Description

Meadowbrook Village Christian Retirement Community is a well-established non-profit organization located in Escondido, California. Since opening its doors in 2009, this community has provided comprehensive senior care as a licensed Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). The organization offers a full spectrum of care options, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing services, aiming to support residents in aging gracefully and comfortably in place. Guided by a mission to "honor God by serving others with love and compassion," Meadowbrook Village prioritizes the well-being, dignity, and individualized care of its residents. The community is known for its welcoming environment, compassionate staff, and commitment to quality care tailored to seniors' physical, emotional, and social needs.

This part-time kitchen team position at Meadowbrook Village is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and senior care. The role primarily supports meal preparation within the Oasis care center, which serves residents in Memory Care and Skilled Nursing units. With a focus on providing delicious and nutritious meals, this position is vital to residents' overall health and satisfaction, especially given the specialized dietary needs and restrictions common in these care areas. The kitchen team operates two kitchens, sharing food service staff between them, allowing for flexibility and collaboration.

The position is part-time, with shifts from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, including some weekend coverage. This schedule allows for work-life balance while ensuring consistent, attentive meal service for residents. The role demands a high level of responsibility, friendliness, and service orientation. Candidates must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and should exhibit professionalism alongside culinary expertise. Attention to detail is critical due to the low-volume meal service (under 50 meals per service), allowing for personalized attention to the dietary requirements of each resident. The kitchen team member must be physically capable of performing tasks involving lifting, bending, stretching, and standing for extended periods, and must be prepared to work on holidays when required.

This job is not only a culinary role but also a key position contributing to the overall care and quality of life for seniors within Meadowbrook Village. The organization values a positive attitude and a service-minded approach, emphasizing respect and compassion in every interaction. Candidates will undergo a fingerprinted criminal background check (Livescan), health screening, TB test, and drug test to ensure safety and compliance with health standards. Employment at Meadowbrook Village offers the chance to be part of a mission-driven community dedicated to uplifting its residents through excellent care and service.
