Job Description
Meadowbrook Village Christian Retirement Community is a well-established non-profit organization located in Escondido, California. Since opening its doors in 2009, this community has grown to become a trusted provider of comprehensive senior care services. Licensed as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), Meadowbrook Village offers a broad spectrum of living options including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing services. The community's mission is deeply rooted in honoring God by serving others with love and compassion, which reflects in their commitment to creating a warm, respectful, and supportive environment for their residents. The community embraces residents aging in place, offering them continuity of care throughout their senior years while promoting comfort, dignity, and independence.
The role available is a part-time kitchen team member primarily based at the Oasis care center within Meadowbrook Village. This kitchen serves residents in memory care and skilled nursing, where the preparation and delivery of nutritious and appealing meals are crucial. The position operates from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, with some weekend coverage required to meet the community’s needs. With two kitchens in operation at Meadowbrook Village, this role involves working predominantly in a low-volume setting with fewer than 50 meals per service. This low-volume environment allows the kitchen staff to focus on the detailed dietary needs and restrictions of each resident, ensuring their nutritional needs are met with care and precision.
Candidates for this role should be responsible, friendly, and service-oriented individuals who are capable of working both independently and as part of a cohesive team. The community values professionalism, culinary knowledge, and a genuine passion for excellent service that goes beyond just meal preparation. This position is suited for someone with prior professional cooking experience who is comfortable with tasks such as lifting up to 40 pounds, standing for long periods, and performing physical activities like bending, stretching, pulling, and pushing necessary in a kitchen environment. The successful candidate must also be available to work on holidays and willing to undergo standard health screening procedures, including TB and drug tests, and a fingerprint criminal background check (Livescan).
At Meadowbrook Village, the kitchen team is seen as an integral part of the community’s holistic approach to senior care, playing a vital role in enhancing residents’ quality of life through thoughtful meal preparation. Joining this team means engaging with a vibrant community dedicated to living out its Christian values through compassionate service. If you take pride in preparing meals that not only nourish but also bring comfort and joy, and you meet the required qualifications and conditions, this opportunity could be the perfect fit. Meadowbrook Village offers a supportive work environment where staff feel appreciated and where their contributions directly impact the well-being of seniors who call this community home.
