The role of Line Cook at Oak View Group is vital to maintaining the high standards of food quality and service that guests expect at venues like the Tanger Center. This position is responsible for preparing and delivering fresh, high-quality food items timely, ensuring guests enjoy an exceptional dining experience throughout the venue. The Line Cook's duties include operating various kitchen equipment, preparing both hot and cold dishes according to company recipes and portioning guidelines, and actively participating as a team player within a fast-paced, event-driven environment. The role demands excellent attention to detail regarding food safety, sanitation, proper cooking techniques, and presentation, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and management.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
  • ability to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and guests
  • capacity to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • possession of valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • availability to work scheduled events and maintain excellent attendance

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
  • able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer and chef knife
  • ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, business-like and respectful manner
  • ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • possess valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
  • ServSafe preferred

Job Duties

  • Responsible for providing high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • prepares hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
  • participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service, and delivery of product
  • responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
  • maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
  • responsible for observing and testing foods to ensure proper cooking
  • responsible for portioning, arranging, and garnishing food plates for delivery to guests
  • responsible for consulting with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
  • show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
