Job Requirements

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace

  • capable of lifting and handling kitchen tools and equipment up to 50 pounds
  • experience with kitchen machinery such as slicers, grinders, and mixers
  • able to create and dismantle displays up to 8 feet high
  • able to work in noisy environments
  • ability to maneuver in limited spaces and timely reach hotel locations
  • capable of bending, stooping, squatting regularly
  • ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 250 pounds
  • manual dexterity to operate equipment
  • ability to obtain and maintain required licenses or permits
  • flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma or secondary qualification
  • experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards
  • good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards
  • knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service
  • ability to operate various kitchen equipment
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to follow detailed recipes and instructions
  • professionalism and maturity in conduct
  • capability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • basic computational ability

Job Duties

  • Prepare all food items according to standard recipes and guest checks
  • follow company and brand standards to ensure consistency of product and guest satisfaction
  • prepare daily requisitions for supplies and food items
  • visually inspect and select food items of the highest standard for menu preparation
  • check and control proper storage and portion control to maintain product quality
  • maintain cleanliness of refrigeration, equipment, storage, and work areas to comply with health department regulations
  • operate all kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, broilers, slicers, and steamers
  • promptly report maintenance issues
  • properly receive and store food and other deliveries
  • consult with upper kitchen management and related departments regularly
  • participate in long-range planning and ongoing hotel programs for continuous improvement
  • participate in physical inventories
  • provide warm and knowledgeable service to guests
  • adhere to all company standard operating procedures
  • be a professional, responsible, and mature team member
  • maintain open communication with all departments
  • assist other departments in emergency situations
  • perform other assignments as directed by supervisor
  • follow all work rules, procedures, and company policies including safety and security standards
