The hotel is committed to delivering high standards of service, comfort, and hospitality to business and leisure travelers alike. It also fosters a dynamic and supportive working environment for its associates, emphasizing career development and continuous learning. Dedicated to excellence, The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center takes pride in its culinary services, aiming to provide delicious and high-quality food offerings to its guests. The hotel features a range of dining options, from casual to upscale, each prepared by skilled culinary teams who adhere to strict standards of food safety, quality, and presentation. This establishment is not only a prime choice for travelers but also a rewarding workplace for those passionate about hospitality and food service careers.
The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center is currently seeking dedicated and motivated culinary associates to join their food and beverage team. This full-time, non-management position offers an exciting opportunity to grow within the hospitality industry while learning from one of the leading hotel brands. The pay rate for this position is set at $21.09 per hour, reflecting the value placed on skilled culinary professionals. An outstanding feature of this role is the partnership with the Rouxbe Cooking School, which offers comprehensive online culinary training. Through this innovative program, associates will gain access to hundreds of well-structured, visually engaging lessons that are self-paced to accommodate their schedules. These lessons cover a wide range of culinary techniques and best practices, empowering employees to enhance their skills and advance their careers.
The culinary associate role encompasses a variety of key responsibilities, including preparing ingredients by chopping, portioning, and storing food, washing and peeling fresh produce, and accurately measuring ingredients. Associates will have the opportunity to prepare and cook a broad range of foods adhering to recipes, presentation guidelines, and quality standards. Operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, fryers, and microwaves forms an integral part of the daily duties, as well as maintaining proper food temperatures and testing food for doneness. It is essential for associates to monitor food quality consistently throughout preparation to meet the hotel's rigorous standards.
In addition to cooking duties, associates will be responsible for setting up and breaking down their workstations, serving food with proper portion control, and maintaining cleanliness by washing and disinfecting kitchen areas, tools, and equipment. Adherence to safety protocols and company policies is critical, including reporting any accidents or unsafe conditions promptly and completing necessary safety trainings and certifications. Personal presentation and professionalism are expected at all times to uphold the hotel's esteemed image.
