Job Description
Trapper's Sushi is a reputable and vibrant restaurant known for delivering authentic Japanese cuisine, specializing in fresh and inventive sushi dishes. Established with a commitment to quality and guest satisfaction, Trapper's Sushi prides itself on creating a welcoming dining atmosphere where patrons can enjoy expertly crafted menu items prepared with the highest culinary standards. The restaurant operates in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where food safety, consistency, and efficiency are paramount to maintaining the brand's reputation for excellence.
The role of Line Cook at Trapper's Sushi is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen and the delivery of a superior guest experience. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items strictly according to the restaurant's established recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to health and safety regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house teams during busy service periods. Emphasis is placed on maintaining a clean and organized workstation, ensuring proper food handling practices such as labeling, storage, and product rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) methods, and upholding the company’s core values.
Working as a Line Cook at Trapper's Sushi offers a competitive compensation package, including an hourly wage of $18.00 plus tips. Employees benefit from comprehensive medical insurance, which is 80 percent employer-paid after 60 days for those who meet qualifying hours. The company also offers a 401(k) retirement plan with a company match available after one year of service, along with voluntary dental and vision coverage. The supportive work environment fosters professional growth, offering opportunities for advancement within a rapidly growing restaurant group. Employees enjoy paid sick leave in accordance with Washington state and local laws, employee meal discounts, and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
This position necessitates physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive motions like chopping and plating while working safely around hot surfaces and sharp utensils. The restaurant maintains a strict safety protocol, requiring personal protective equipment and non-slip footwear to ensure a safe kitchen environment. Candidates must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Washington State Food Worker Card before starting employment, demonstrate reliability with their attendance, and maintain a positive, team-first attitude. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is also essential.
The Line Cook role is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), entitling employees to overtime pay for hours worked beyond 40 in a workweek or as required by applicable state laws. Trapper's Sushi is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive workplace where employment decisions are made without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other protected status. This role is an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals looking to grow their careers in a supportive, dynamic, and quality-focused restaurant environment, making a direct impact on guest satisfaction and the operational success of Trapper's Sushi.
