Job Requirements
- Current California Food Handler’s Card
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to push and pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach
- Ability to maintain good concentration and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly using spoken word
- Ability to see and hear within normal parameters
- Must maintain neat and professional grooming with hair restraints as required by health code
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 11:30 am - 8:00 pm, with some variation including evenings and weekends
Job Qualifications
- Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability
- Previous experience in food service industry is strongly preferred
- Ability to learn safe working methods and procedures including use of food preparation equipment
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Basic math skills including knowledge of fractions to adjust recipes
- Ability to follow HACCP, ServSafe, and PPE requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Ability to provide the highest quality of service to customers
Job Duties
- Read and follow recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foods for consumption
- Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized receipts and instructions to meet production, delivery, and services schedules
- Operate a variety of kitchen equipment including but not limited to knives, peelers, mixers, slicers, mandolins, choppers, and graters
- Use Just in Time and Batch cooking to assure freshness and minimize leftover and excess food production
- Take and record temperatures to assure compliance with health department guidelines
- Set-up and maintain food lines including filling water and ice containers, placing food on serving line, maintaining steam tables, and garnishing food
- Check production and keep records to plan production requirements, requisition supplies and equipment, and maintain health compliance
