As part of the Kisco Senior Living family, Magnolia Glen offers a full-time Cook position that is vital to the success of their culinary operations. This role involves preparing and presenting high-quality meals with impeccable standards that satisfy the nutritional and aesthetic needs of seniors. The Cook is responsible not only for food preparation aligned with menus, recipes, and production sheets but also for maintaining overall kitchen cleanliness and organization to meet health and safety standards. Shifts for this position vary between early mornings starting at 6:30 a.m. to later evening hours ending at 7 p.m., with two days off per week provided. Compensation ranges from $19.00 to $22.50 per hour, based on experience, reflecting the value Magnolia Glen places on skilled culinary professionals.
Beyond competitive pay, Magnolia Glen supports its employees with paid vacation, sick time, and seven paid holidays annually. Employees enjoy excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits, including a 401K retirement plan with matching contributions, free meals during each shift, and various bonus opportunities. These benefits underscore the company’s investment in the well-being and growth of its workforce. The Cook role offers not only a stable, supportive work environment but also continual training and opportunities for career advancement within a reputable senior living company.
The daily responsibilities of a Cook at Magnolia Glen include assisting in the production of creatively designed cuisine, cooking with precision and care according to established menus and recipes, and maintaining a sanitary kitchen environment. Additionally, the role requires timely delivery of invoices to the Dining Services Director, accurate record-keeping for meals served, and the inventory of food supplies used. This detailed level of responsibility ensures that dining services run smoothly while meeting regulatory standards.
Ideal candidates for this position are high school graduates with a minimum of five years’ cooking experience. They must demonstrate basic competence in technology, including Microsoft Office applications and specialized systems, and be willing to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. Key skills include the ability to support kitchen team members effectively and a solid understanding of culinary techniques such as Mise en Place for ingredient organization.
