Job Description
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) stands as a pillar of medical excellence and compassionate care in the North Florida and South Georgia region. As a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system, TMH serves a vast 22-county area and has built a reputation for quality, innovation, and comprehensive patient services. This robust healthcare system is anchored by a 772-bed acute care hospital and is recognized as the region's leading healthcare provider, known particularly for its advanced care programs and specialized treatment centers. TMH proudly holds distinctions such as the only Level II Trauma Center in the region, a Primary Stroke Center, a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Pediatric Intensive Care.
In addition to acute care, TMH’s extensive system encompasses a psychiatric hospital, multiple specialty care centers, six residency programs, and more than 50 affiliated physician practices, catering to a wide spectrum of healthcare needs. Their cancer, heart and vascular, orthopedic, and surgical programs are regarded among the most advanced in the Panhandle. TMH’s workforce includes over 6,000 colleagues who reflect the diversity of the community it serves, fostering a culture of inclusivity and teamwork.
The role offered is that of a Food Service Worker, which is crucial to the smooth operation of the hospital's dietary services. This position primarily involves performing a variety of dietary functions related to daily meal service within the hospital, ensuring that food delivery and kitchen sanitation meet high standards to safeguard patient health and satisfaction. Responsibilities extend to operating and cleaning dishwashing machines, maintaining cleanliness of kitchen floors and surfaces, managing waste removal, and assisting with food transportation within hospital facilities. The Food Service Worker is also tasked with more specialized cleaning duties, stocking supplies, and adhering strictly to food safety regulations.
This role is an essential part of the support team under the supervision of the Food Service Manager, contributing significantly to the patient care environment by providing clean and efficient food service operations. The position not only supports nutritional services but also helps uphold infection control through consistent sanitation efforts. Given the hospital’s complex layout and multiple care units, the role includes driving duties to transport food items between locations, which requires a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare emphasizes equal opportunity employment and maintains a drug-free workplace. Prospective employees must successfully complete a series of pre-employment checks including a drug screen, background check, reference verification, health assessment, and credential/license verification, ensuring a safe and trustworthy healthcare environment. The Food Service Worker position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a supportive role, have an eye for cleanliness and detail, and want to contribute to impactful patient care in a noted community health system. The role offers an opportunity to join a respected institution committed to healthcare excellence and community service, fitting for those seeking a rewarding career in healthcare support services.
