The position in question is a food preparation role within PENN Entertainment's vibrant culinary team. This role focuses on preparing, expediting, monitoring, replenishing, and transporting a variety of food items such as meats, vegetables, soups, and sauces according to production sheets and menu requirements. The individual in this role will report to the Sous Chef and receive daily instructions regarding specials or menu changes, arranging mise en place as directed. Communication with supervisors regarding station needs, waste, and discrepancies is crucial to maintaining quality and efficiency.

The job requires adherence to recipe specifications and presentation standards, with flexibility to assist in other kitchen areas as needed. Interactions with guests and coworkers should always be professional and courteous, delivering a positive experience that aligns with PENN Entertainment’s reputation. Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment is mandatory at all times. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor. This role demands physical stamina with specific requirements such as walking 30% of the time, standing 70%, bending and lifting 10%, climbing heights over 10 feet, and moving objects up to 100 pounds. Visual acuity including color and peripheral vision is necessary.

The work environment is a mix of smoking guest areas and non-smoking employee environments, with conditions that may include high noise levels. The position also requires obtaining appropriate licenses and credentials set by the Pennsylvania State Racing Commission and Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, especially for casino floor events which require non-gaming credentials. Job Requirements

  • One to two years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have the ability to read write and speak English
  • Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating maintenance instructions and manuals
  • Must have the ability to read analyze and interpret technical procedures
  • Must have the ability to perform basic math skills
  • Must have the ability to identify problems collect data analyze and draw valid conclusions
  • Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions written verbal etc.
  • Must qualify for a license with the Pennsylvania State Racing Commission and meet any credentialing requirements of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
  • Working events on the casino floor will require an individual to obtain a non-gaming credential

Job Duties

  • Prepares expedites monitors replenishes and/or transports meats vegetables soups sauces and other food items as indicated by production sheets
  • Reports to Sous Chef at start of shift to receive instructions as daily specials or menu changes
  • Arranges mise en place according posted instructions and menu requirements
  • Communicates station needs waste and discrepancies with immediate supervisor
  • As directed by supervisor prepares and presents menu items according to recipe specification and presentation photos
  • Assists in other areas of kitchen as directed by Sous Chef
  • Interacts with guests and coworkers in a professional courteous manner
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work area at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
