Currently operating 34 properties across six states—Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, and Arkansas—Arrow Senior Living employs nearly 2,200 individuals dedicated to enhancing the lives of their residents. The company is proud of its culture which values inclusivity, diversity, and respect for individuals regardless of their faith, race, color, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, or handicap, adhering strictly to state and federal laws. Arrow Senior Living fosters a supportive and home-like environment, not only for its residents but also for its team members, emphasizing core values that impact the quality of life of those served. This welcoming atmosphere extends from day one, where employees immediately embrace the core values that guide the company’s mission and vision.
The role available is for a Cook at the University Senior Living location in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This position offers a full-time opportunity with a competitive starting wage ranging from $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. Shifts are scheduled from Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 am to 7:30 pm, providing a structured work week with weekends off. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and possess skills in preparing high-quality, attractively presented food that meets established standards and recipes. The Cook will serve as a Culinary Craftsman by ensuring that all menu items are prepared to the highest quality in a timely manner. Maintaining strict health protocols is crucial in this position; the Cook is responsible for ensuring sanitary food preparation practices, proper hygiene, and safe food temperatures to protect the health and well-being of the residents.
One of the unique aspects of this role is the emphasis on being a Culinary Connector. The Cook is encouraged to build relationships with residents, understanding their preferences and dietary needs, which fosters a personalized and compassionate approach to meal service. Participation in resident orientations further integrates the Cook into the community, enhancing their ability to connect and contribute meaningfully. This position requires physical stamina as it involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping throughout the shift, as well as the ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be comfortable working in varying temperatures, including exposure to cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers, and should be prepared to work both indoors and outdoors during special events.
Arrow Senior Living prides itself on promoting from within, creating excellent opportunities for career growth and development. Employees enjoy numerous benefits like a Company Match 401(k) plan, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability insurance, employee assistance programs, life insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and various employee recognition and referral programs.
