The Cook role at Patel, Patel and Patel dba Golden Corral is a vital position within the Hot Choice Buffet team. This role holds significant responsibility for ensuring the quality, quantity, freshness, and taste of all buffet items, especially those served hot. The Cook must adhere strictly to Golden Corral’s recipes and procedures to maintain consistency and high standards in food production. These tasks include preparing various Hot Choice Buffet products, grilling items to perfection, and ensuring that fried foods are hot and fresh. Flexibility is also important, as the Cook may need to restock display stations or assist guests when other team members such as the Buffet Attendant or Carver are unavailable.

Operational excellence is a core part of this job. The Cook must maintain the right temperatures for dishes during cooking, holding, and serving to comply with health and quality standards. Inventory management is also crucial, as is the proper use of inventory techniques like the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method to rotate food products effectively. Equipment maintenance and administrative tasks during opening and closing of shifts are part of the daily routine, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and safely.

Cleanliness and sanitation are non-negotiable in this role. The Cook must ensure the cooking area and equipment, including smallwares and dishes, are clean at all times, comply with local health department regulations, and maintain a high standard of sanitation such as keeping the char grill clean and scraped regularly.

Guest service is another vital dimension of the Cook’s responsibility. Maintaining hot, fresh products for the guests consistently highlights the role’s contribution to the overall dining experience. Job Duties

  • Prepares Hot Choice Buffet products including carving and display cooking products according to Golden Corral recipes and procedures
  • Grills all items according to Golden Corral standards to ensure quality
  • Ensures every fried product is always fresh and hot
  • Restocks items at the Display Cooking Station if the Buffet Attendant is unavailable
  • Assists guests with carved meat options if the Carver is unavailable
  • Uses and follows the buffet production system to ensure quality and shelf life compliance
  • Maintains correct temperature of all products during cooking, holding, and serving
