Job Description
Cork Wine and Tapas is an eclectic dining establishment located in the heart of Historic Downtown New Bedford, Massachusetts. Renowned for its creative cuisine, Cork offers a dynamic menu featuring both tapas and full entrees. Situated in the historic Joseph Taber building, this unique eatery showcases the city’s rich connection to the sea through a variety of seafood dishes while also catering to a diverse clientele with offerings for both vegetarian and meat lovers. The restaurant provides a memorable dining experience through its charming indoor ambiance as well as outdoor seating along the cobblestone streets, creating the perfect setting for casual or special occasions. Under new leadership and with a fresh culinary vision, Cork has positioned itself as a hub for great food, local culture, and community engagement.
Cork Wine and Tapas is more than just a restaurant; it is a vibrant part of the local arts scene, regularly hosting performances by local musicians and maintaining strong ties with the New Bedford theater and art communities. Notably, Cork is a popular spot on "Z Night," when patrons gather to enjoy special wine flights and shared tapas before and after shows at the nearby Zeiterion Theatre. The restaurant also contributes to the monthly AHA! (Art, History, and Architecture) nights, a downtown cultural celebration that attracts residents and visitors who appreciate both fine dining and the local arts scene.
Additionally, Cork features an exclusive event space complete with patio access and harbor views. This versatile area is available for private functions ranging from intimate dinners with friends to larger events such as corporate functions, bridal and baby showers, or even wedding receptions. This adds a unique dimension to Cork’s offerings, making it not only a dining destination but also a choice venue for various private celebrations.
Cork Wine and Tapas is currently seeking a creative and experienced Line Cook to join its growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, evolving restaurant environment where creativity, teamwork, and innovation are highly valued. The Line Cook will play a vital role in upholding the restaurant's commitment to high-quality culinary service, supporting both the innovative tapas menu and the demands of private event food production. As part of the Cork family, all employees are viewed as partners who contribute to building strong relationships and ensuring a positive dining experience for all guests.
This full-time position requires someone with proven culinary skills, capable of preparing diverse menu items efficiently and accurately while maintaining the highest standards of sanitation and safety. The Line Cook’s responsibilities include station setup, ingredient preparation, cooking in collaboration with other kitchen staff, and adhering strictly to the guidelines provided by the executive and sous chefs. Attention to detail, speed, and a passion for food are essential traits that Cork values in its kitchen team members.
The restaurant supports its staff by offering ongoing training in hospitality and food and beverage service, as well as specialized training for private and business events. Flexible scheduling is provided to accommodate work-life balance, and there are opportunities for growth and advancement within the broader restaurant group. Working at Cork Wine and Tapas means being part of a supportive community committed to culinary excellence and local culture, all while contributing to a distinctive dining experience in a historic and vibrant setting.
