The role of Line Cook within One Off Hospitality’s expanding Catering and Events division, partnered with Chicago Fire Football Club in Chicago, IL, is critical to the continued success of their food service operations. This position typically starts early in the morning, around 5 am, reflecting the fast-paced and demanding nature of catering and event preparation. The Line Cook reports directly to the Executive Chef of One Off Catering & Events and plays a key role in ensuring that every menu item is prepared, plated, and presented in strict accordance with One Off’s quality standards.

The Line Cook position is ideal for individuals passionate about cuisine who possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a desire to grow their culinary skills. This role demands adaptability and efficiency in a high-volume environment where precision, cleanliness, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. Responsibilities range from setting up and managing multiple stations to prepping ingredients, maintaining kitchen tools and equipment, to ensuring the kitchen complies with safety and sanitation policies. The Line Cook must be ready to work flexible hours and contribute to various catering and private event setups, including banquets and offsite engagements.

Candidates for this position should have culinary school training or equivalent work experience, along with food handler certification. The job requires physical endurance, including the ability to stand for long periods in a hot kitchen, handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and work under pressure while maintaining professionalism. Job Requirements

  • ability to be flexible with job demands and open minded when being asked to complete tasks

  • ability to move or handle equipment throughout the restaurant generally weighing 0-50 pounds
  • ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates
  • ability to stand for up to 8-10 hours a day in a hot environment
  • must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood and shellfish

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • maintains a cheerful, courteous disposition and a neat, clean and professional image
  • with minimal assistance, be able to set up and work multiple stations at an acceptable level
  • with assistance, able to perform prep tasks assigned by the cdc and managers in a timely fashion
  • completes required tasks or prep list in a timely fashion
  • sets up station as required for all scheduled services
  • is prepared to work private functions, banquets and offsite events
  • operates, maintains and properly cleans kitchen equipment
