Your duties include setting up your workstation with necessary ingredients and utensils, safely handling food preparation tasks such as measuring, chopping, trimming, and cooking using various methods like baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area is also a critical aspect of the role, as is adhering to food safety, sanitation, and OSHA regulations to provide safe and high-standard service. Collaboration with team members to deliver exceptional customer service and participation in catering or special events may be required.

This position is hourly, with compensation ranging from $18.45 to $20.30 per hour. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of cooking or related culinary experience
  • knowledge of food preparation and safety regulations
  • ability to pass Food Handler certification exam
  • able to read, write, and follow instructions
  • capable of working in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • available to work holidays and weekends
  • physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds
  • able to stand and walk for extended periods
  • willingness to wear uniforms and PPE
  • able to work with heated equipment, chemical exposure, and varying temperatures

Job Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience as a cook or in a related role
  • knowledge of basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations
  • able to pass a Food Handler certification exam
  • sufficient education or training to read, write, count and follow verbal and written instructions
  • ability to work quickly and concisely under pressure
  • availability to work holidays, weekends, and varied hours due to business volume

Job Duties

  • work effectively with team members to deliver exceptional customer service
  • maintain excellent customer service and positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers
  • cook and prepare a variety of food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes
  • set up workstation with all needed ingredients and equipment
  • prepare ingredients by measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, trimming, and peeling food items
  • safely use a variety of utensils including knives
  • operate and care for equipment such as ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, walk-ins
  • bake, roast, broil, steam, and use a variety of cooking methods on meat, vegetables, and other foods
  • maintain a clean and organized work and storage area, including sweeping, mopping, washing, scrubbing, and polishing kitchen surfaces
  • assist with catering and special events as needed
  • adhere to the uniform policy
  • comply with Aramark and client companies, San Diego County, and OSHA safety policies and procedures for proper food safety, sanitation, storage and disposal
