As established leaders in the senior living community, they pride themselves on fostering compassionate environments that prioritize residents' comfort, safety, and well-being. These organizations maintain rigorous standards for food service, ensuring high-quality nourishment tailored to meet the diverse dietary needs of their clients. Covenant Living combines years of expertise with a commitment to innovation, continually aiming to enhance the quality of life for seniors through comprehensive care programs, community engagement, and supportive services.
The role of Line Cook within Covenant Living is essential to the mission of serving senior residents with nutritious, delicious meals prepared with precision and care. This position involves the accurate and efficient preparation, portioning, cooking, and presentation of a wide variety of hot and cold food items throughout different meal periods including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special catered events. Working in a senior living and healthcare environment, the Line Cook adheres to standardized recipes to guarantee proper quantities and consistent, high quality of food. This crucial role demands proficiency in classical cooking techniques, the ability to produce both small and large batch goods, and the maintenance of stringent sanitation and safety standards as dictated by organizational policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
The Line Cook will perform a broad spectrum of food preparation duties, from preparing and cooking to order items requiring short to mid-level preparation times, to operating grill stations, and ensuring compliance with all food safety practices. This position demands superior attention to food quality, including tasting, seasoning, and presentation, along with the capacity to read menus, estimate food requirements, check production levels, and maintain detailed records for inventory and requisitions. The Line Cook plays an active role in maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, including sanitizing workstations and equipment, assisting in setup and breakdown of serving lines, and properly labeling and storing food supplies.
Additionally, the Line Cook must embrace safety and risk management policies by participating in regular training and hazard assessments. The role requires working flexible hours, potentially including holidays, and interacting effectively with residents, staff, and visitors with compassion, patience, and professionalism. Physical endurance to lift up to 50 pounds, frequent movement, and standing for extended periods are also important to fulfilling the responsibilities of this role.
Compensation for the Line Cook ranges from $14.01 to $18.44 per hour, with variations based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. Full-time employees can expect a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, employer-paid life and disability insurance, paid time off, holiday pay, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, fitness center access, and various voluntary benefits such as tuition assistance, employee assistance programs, and pet insurance.
