Job Description
SSP America is a leading global operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations such as airports, train stations, and motorway service areas. With a strong presence in many major transportation hubs, SSP America offers a diverse portfolio of well-known and beloved brands that cater to a wide variety of tastes and preferences. The company is committed to delivering exceptional dining experiences to travelers by providing high-quality food, excellent customer service, and a safe and welcoming environment. SSP America values its team members and offers opportunities for career growth and advancement within its fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
The available role is for a Cook 2 position located at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy food service environment and desires to be part of a diverse restaurant portfolio including brands such as Ballard Brew Hall, Mi Casa Cantina, Greedy Cow, Pei Wei, Bad Egg, among others. The employment is immediate, with an hourly wage of $26.36, reflecting the skilled nature of the position and the responsibilities it entails.
As a Cook 2 at SSP America, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the culinary standards of the respective brand outlets within the airport. Your responsibilities will include following recipes precisely, managing portion sizes, preparing garnishes, and presenting dishes according to company standards. The position demands a thorough and consistent setup of the kitchen and workstations at the beginning of each shift, ensuring all fresh, dry, and frozen goods, as well as condiments and supplies, are stored properly and readily accessible.
You will be tasked with handling, storing, and rotating all food products adequately to maintain freshness and avoid waste. Moreover, the role involves ensuring the proper maintenance, cleaning, and functionality of kitchen equipment and machines. Attention to detail is essential as you manage daily stock supplies, prepare and store perishable goods, as well as cleaning utensils and storage areas like refrigerators and freezers.
A significant part of this role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene by following specific cleaning protocols as guided by the manager. You will also be expected to coordinate closely with management, particularly during shift changes, to review stock and ensure everything is in order before leaving. This critical teamwork ensures smooth kitchen operations and consistent food quality.
SSP America seeks candidates with at least one year of experience in a food service environment, a high school diploma (preferred), strong verbal and written communication skills, and basic math abilities. Food handler permits and any specific brand certifications required by law are mandatory. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
This position not only offers competitive pay but also a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being of employees. Benefits include medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage for employees working 80 or more hours per month with a modest employee contribution; an employee assistance program; a 401(k) plan with employer matching; a pension plan with vacation accrual based on hours worked; paid holidays with premium pay; paid sick leave with rollover and year-end cash-out options; meal plans with discounts; and paid meal breaks for longer shifts. Additional medical leave and extended leaves of absence are also available.
SSP America prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer, dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace free from discrimination. The company complies with all applicable laws regarding employment and provides reasonable accommodations throughout the hiring process as needed. This commitment underlines SSP America's dedication to fair employment practices and the well-being of all its employees, as it continues to deliver top-quality dining experiences to travelers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and beyond.
