Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Food Handler’s Permit
- State sanitation certificate
- Three to four years of advanced food service and cooking experience
- Intermediate to advanced knife skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and follow recipes unsupervised
- Basic computer proficiency
- Dependability and organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including some holidays
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to maintain a neat and orderly work area
- Ability to work with limited supervision
- Ability to show patience and compassion toward senior adults
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Food Handler’s Permit
- Training in ServSafe is beneficial
- State sanitation certificate
- Three to four years of related and advanced cooking and food service experience
- Experience with basic kitchen equipment operation
- Intermediate to advanced knife skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to follow written instructions and recipes independently
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work calmly under pressure
- Patience and compassion for senior residents
- Ability to adhere to dress code and food safety standards
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook foods to order for multiple meal periods including breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Produce small to large batch goods using classical cooking techniques
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and food safety standards in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Utilize kitchen equipment to measure, mix, peel, cut, and prepare ingredients
- Read and follow recipes accurately to ensure consistency and quality
- Plate food with attention to presentation and garnish
- Participate in cleaning and sanitizing of workstations and kitchen equipment
- Comply with safety and risk management policies and participate in safety training sessions
