The role available is for a Cook who will be responsible for preparing, seasoning, and cooking a variety of foods for both the restaurant and banquet services. This full-time position requires hands-on involvement in different cooking methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming. The Cook will follow recipes carefully to ensure quality and consistency in every dish served. Tasks will include measuring and mixing ingredients, adjusting cooking temperatures, and ensuring all food items meet health and safety guidelines. Additionally, the Cook will handle food preparation processes such as washing, peeling, cutting, and trimming vegetables and meats. Maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen and work areas is a critical part of the duties to ensure compliance with sanitation standards. This role also involves assisting with unloading supplies and rotating inventory to maintain an organized and efficient kitchen environment.

As part of KHC’s team, the employee will adhere to established policies and procedures concerning dress code, safety, and performance standards to maintain a professional image. While this Cook position does not have supervisory responsibilities, it plays a vital role in ensuring timely food preparation and overall guest satisfaction. The physical demands of the job include prolonged standing, walking, frequent use of hands and arms, and occasional lifting of heavy objects up to 50 pounds. Employees must demonstrate proper safety precautions to avoid injuries. Franchise-specific and federal, state, or local food handling certifications may be required to qualify for the position.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cooking experience preferred
  • Food handling certification or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Job Duties

  • Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles
  • Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipe to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles
  • Bakes, roasts, broils, and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
  • Adds seasoning to foods during mixing or cooking
  • Cooks and tests foods being prepared by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork to determine that it is cooked
  • Ensures that items are prepared according to recipes in a timely, efficient manner that prevents waste yet ensures quality and guest satisfaction
  • Carves meats, portions food on serving plates, adds gravies and sauces, and garnishes servings to fill orders
  • Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare them for use
  • Cuts, trims, and bones meat prior to cooking
  • Bakes bread, rolls, cakes, and pastry
  • Follows proper procedures in handling food to ensure health and sanitation guidelines are met
  • Uses tools and equipment properly to ensure safety and avoid injury or damage to equipment
  • Assists in unloading trucks that arrive with supplies, storing and rotating inventory
  • Cleans work area, freezers, kitchen area and dish area to ensure proper cleanliness is maintained
