Job Description

The Eliza Jane is currently seeking a skilled Cook to join its dedicated culinary team. This role is crucial in maintaining the high standards of quality and service that guests expect. The Cook will work under the close guidance of the Executive Chef and kitchen team to prepare meals according to established recipes, ensuring each dish delights customers with both flavor and timely delivery. This position requires a strong commitment to food safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency within the kitchen.

The Cook’s responsibilities include preparing ingredients such as washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meats, and cooking orders while adhering strictly to food health and safety regulations. They will also be involved in maintaining an organized and clean workstation and may contribute ideas for specials or seasonal dishes. The ability to handle multiple food orders simultaneously without compromising quality or efficiency is essential. The role demands physical stamina, as the Cook will be required to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects. Additionally, a keen sense of taste and smell is necessary to maintain the highest quality standards for food and beverages.

Job Requirements

  • at least 1+ years of related professional cooking experience
  • experience with commercial restaurant cooking equipment
  • ability to follow sanitation and cleanliness procedures
  • culinary degree or related restaurant experience is preferred
  • great communication skills with both front and back of the house
  • handle a fast-paced cooking environment with ease
  • required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, feel, work with objects and tools
  • must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds related to inventory
  • must be able to adeptly smell and taste food and beverages to judge quality
  • adhere to Makeready and property policies and procedures as defined

Job Qualifications

  • prior experience as a cook highly preferred
  • able to handle making multiple orders simultaneously while maintaining efficiency and quality

Job Duties

  • work closely with the Executive Chef and kitchen team to ensure that the workspace is running efficiently and effectively
  • set up, cleaning and organizing workstation
  • prepare ingredients for the shift
  • washing vegetables, chopping, seasoning meat, etc
  • cook orders according to food health and safety procedures
  • recommend ideas for specials or seasonal dishes
  • handle multiple food orders simultaneously
  • adhere to all safety and cleanliness standards
  • adhere to Makeready's Guiding Principles
  • additional duties and assignments as assigned
