This job opportunity is for the position of Fox Island Cook, which is remote and boat-in, located in the picturesque Kenai Fjords National Park. Due to the unique nature of this location, employees are expected to assist in multiple departments to ensure a smooth operational flow. The Fox Island Cook plays a critical role in preparing and cooking food for guests at the Day Lodge or Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge as well as employee meals. This position is essential in providing a high-quality, consistent dining experience, contributing directly to guest satisfaction and overall hospitality excellence.

The role involves not only food preparation but also assistance in daily kitchen and facility activities, such as maintaining cleanliness, ensuring safety, and managing supplies efficiently. The Fox Island Cook works closely with other departments, maintaining an active presence in fostering a safe, well-maintained, and enjoyable environment for guests and staff alike. Additional responsibilities include adhering to health regulations, managing waste, and participating in emergency responses, all while upholding Pursuit’s commitment to exceptional service.

This position offers a starting wage of $19.00 per hour. Job Requirements

  • Valid Alaska Food Handler's Certification
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation standards
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier occasionally
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Culinary school graduate or equivalent experience or training
  • Must be able to work remotely in a boat-in location
  • Flexibility to assist other departments as needed
  • Ability to adhere to health and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary school graduate or previous experience working as a cook in food service operations or equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Valid Alaska Food Handler's Certification
  • ServSafe Managers certificate preferred
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and preparation standards
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service to guests and other team members
  • Make sound judgments and anticipate issues and opportunities
  • Work closely with all other departments to ensure overall guest satisfaction
  • Ensure that guests' special needs are met
  • Prepare, cook, and clean after all meals
  • Maintain clean and sanitary food preparation facilities according to health regulations
  • Conduct opening and closing duties
  • Observe food preparation and cooking methods to ensure standards are met
  • Arrive on time, ready to work, and present a neat appearance
  • Participate in emergency response activities within training limitations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
