The Back of House Support role at The Exchange Pub & Kitchen is essential to the seamless operation of the kitchen and the overall success of the restaurant. This position focuses on maintaining the highest quality food preparation and ensuring that all kitchen duties and cooking stations are organized, stocked, and clean at all times. The ideal candidate will take full responsibility for their assigned cooking station, including setting up and stocking products, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and maintaining utensils and tools to ensure a safe and efficient workspace.

In this role, the Back of House Support teammate plays a critical part in promoting a safe and professional workplace, adhering strictly to sanitation standards and legal regulations. The duties include producing hot and cold dishes according to predetermined recipes, ensuring portion control, and presenting dishes attractively to enhance the guest experience. Additionally, the role involves handling foodstuffs and utensils by transporting pans, kettles, and trays of food between workstations, stoves, and refrigerators while maintaining food quality through proper storage practices to minimize spoilage.

Equipment maintenance is another vital aspect of this position. The candidate must follow operating instructions to keep kitchen tools functioning optimally, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain inventory supplies, and carry out preventative maintenance measures. Managing waste by segregating and removing it properly and participating in environmental initiatives such as recycling, waste reduction, and energy and water conservation are also key responsibilities.

The Back of House Support role requires flexibility, reliability, and physical stamina. Candidates must be willing to work various shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The job demands the ability to be on your feet and remain alert for extended periods, as well as the physical capability to carry items weighing up to 35 pounds when necessary. Reliable transportation is necessary to ensure punctuality and consistent attendance.
