Scratchboard Kitchen is an upscale casual restaurant located in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights, known for its commitment to delivering simple yet elevated scratch-made breakfast and lunch dishes, along with quality coffee and alcoholic beverages. The restaurant was conceptualized by a Michelin trained chef who brings fine dining standards into a casual setting, ensuring that every dish is crafted with precision, care, and the highest quality ingredients. We are currently seeking a dedicated Line Cook to join our professional, chef-led kitchen team. This role primarily supports our dinner service but includes some optional weekend morning shifts. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in culinary techniques, a passion for food craftsmanship, and a desire to grow within a supportive and structured kitchen setting. At Scratchboard Kitchen, Line Cooks are essential contributors to the dining experience, responsible for executing dishes with accuracy and care, maintaining clean and organized stations, and efficiently completing prep work while managing inventory pars. Communication is key, and team members are expected to contribute to a calm and professional service environment that upholds the highest standards of food safety and sanitation. This position offers steady dinner hours with no late-night close, perfect for those who prefer a balanced and consistent schedule. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience in a professional kitchen preferred
  • knowledge of food safety standards
  • ability to work flexible dinner shifts including some weekends
  • strong communication skills
  • physical stamina to be on feet for extended periods and handle kitchen tasks

  • Professional kitchen experience preferred (line or prep)
  • strong culinary fundamentals and a desire to improve
