The company is currently hiring for the position of Cook at its location on 118 Hamlin. This role offers an hourly pay rate between $18 and $24 and is classified as non-exempt. As a Cook at PopStroke, you will be at the heart of the kitchen's operation, responsible for delivering high-quality culinary services in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position requires agility and precision to prepare food efficiently while adhering strictly to safety, sanitation, and portion control standards. You will work closely with the kitchen team to maintain organization, manage inventory, and ensure that each dish meets PopStroke's quality expectations.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include operating kitchen equipment safely, collaborating with team members for efficient service delivery, maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen area, and adhering to both opening and closing operational procedures. You will also be expected to contribute to the overall guest experience by preparing meals that are not only delicious but also visually appealing. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a similar cook role
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach for long periods of time
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 lbs
- Ability to safely use kitchen equipment and ladders
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy trays and multiple plates
- Availability to work weekends and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cook in a high-volume environment
- Strong knowledge of various cooking methods and techniques
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, and lift and carry up to 40 lbs
Job Duties
- Ensure the highest quality of culinary services for our guests
- Quickly, safely, and efficiently prepare food in accordance with our preparation and execution standards
- Follow established portion control procedures to minimize food waste and maximize profitability
- Accurately utilize technology to recognize and complete food ticket orders
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment, countertops, walk-in coolers, and storage areas, to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels, rotating ingredients, labeling prep items, receiving supplies, and notifying the chef or manager of any shortages or discrepancies
- Collaborate with kitchen team members to maintain efficient workflow and communicate effectively to ensure timely preparation and service of meals
- Assist with dishwashing and food prep duties as needed
- Maintain a high degree of standards in cleanliness and sanitation at all times
- Follow all safety procedures
- Execute opening and closing procedures
- Remove trash, safely operate a trash compactor, and ensure cleanliness of the trash compactor area
- Other duties as assigned
