Big Whiskey's is currently seeking motivated and skilled cooks to join its dynamic kitchen team. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.00 to $18.00 and is ideal for individuals passionate about food preparation and eager to contribute to a fast-paced and supportive environment. The role entails cooking meats, fish, vegetables, soups, and other hot food items with precision and care. Candidates will also be responsible for preparing and portioning ingredients before cooking, ensuring consistent quality and presentation of all dishes. Functions in this role encompass not only cooking but also plating, garnishing, and maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen workspace. The ideal candidate will have prior kitchen prep and cooking experience, be capable of working long standing shifts including physical tasks like lifting up to 40 pounds, and possess effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with kitchen and dining room teams. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers and kitchen staff
  • Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods up to 9 hours

Job Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in kitchen preparation and cooking
  • At least 6 months experience in a similar capacity
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 9 hours

Job Duties

  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for the quality of products served
  • Knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations for smooth service
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications with proper labeling and rotation
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection ovens, flat top ranges, and refrigeration equipment
  • Prepares items for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, seasoning, and/or marinating
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish setup for all dishes
  • Handles, stores, and rotates all products properly
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the kitchen manager or MOD
