The role of Line Cook at Garden Spot Village is an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about delivering high-quality food experiences in a dynamic kitchen setting. This is a full-time position that requires dedication, skill, and a commitment to excellence as part of the dining services team. The Line Cook will work primarily at The Terrace, an exciting new restaurant concept within Garden Spot Village that features a seasonally crafted menu inspired by fresh ingredients and creative culinary techniques. This position is vital in ensuring that all meals are prepared to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation while respecting dietary needs and preferences.
As a Line Cook, you will be responsible not only for cooking but also for assisting with food preparation, inventory management, and leading dining services personnel as needed. The job demands a strong understanding of recipes, cooking methods, and food safety guidelines, including compliance with federal, state, and corporate standards such as HACCP policies. The ability to work independently and with minimal supervision is essential, especially in performing advanced cooking duties and managing food ordering aligned with menu requirements. You will be expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen and create a positive dining experience for residents and guests alike. Advanced knife skills and experience with large quantity cooking techniques are highly valued in this role.
Working hours are full-time, five days a week, with alternating weekend shifts including Sundays, reflecting the operational needs of a busy dining establishment. Job Duties
- Complies with established policies and procedures and maintains established standards and practices including the Compliance Program Code of Conduct
- Follows Residents' Rights policies at all times
- Treats all information about residents, their condition and family as confidential
- Possesses an understanding and preparation of recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in our eating establishments
- Assists with the supervision of Dining Services personnel
- Prepares bakery items, takes and receives inventory, moves and lifts foodstuffs, and supplies and prepares meals for customers according to customer need or dietary restrictions
- Serves as lead cook by guiding, assisting, training, and assigning tasks
- Under minimal supervision, independently performs advanced cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers
- Advanced knife skills required
- Assists in food ordering, according to menu and department needs
- Prepares food and serves customers based on a seasonally crafted menu
- Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations to ensure high-quality food service is provided
- Reads food orders or receives verbal instructions on food required by patrons, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions
- Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
- Complies with all HACCP policies and procedures
- May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all GSV and regulatory rules and procedures
- Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times
- Performs all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
