Job Description

Top Dawg Tavern is a well-established, family-owned and operated full-service casual dining restaurant that has been serving customers since its founding in 2013. With six locations spread across the southeastern United States, including Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida, Top Dawg Tavern prides itself on offering a clean, family-friendly, and relaxed dining atmosphere. The restaurant operates seven days a week, providing both lunch and dinner services to a diverse clientele. This growing chain emphasizes quality food and excellent customer service, fostering a welcoming environment for families and casual diners alike.

The role of Line Cook at Top Dawg Tavern is an essential position within the back of house team. It is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis, with the ideal candidate able to commit to around 30 hours of work per week. The starting pay for this role is $15 per hour. While previous experience as a line cook or in similar kitchen roles is preferred, it is not mandatory, as the company is willing to train candidates who demonstrate a positive attitude and eagerness to learn. This flexibility allows those new to the kitchen environment to grow their culinary skills under the guidance of experienced kitchen staff.

As a Line Cook, the individual will be responsible for preparing menu items to exact specifications, setting up their workstations with all necessary supplies, and ensuring food is cooked in a timely and high-quality manner. The position requires cooperation with kitchen and restaurant staff to maintain smooth operations and meet service expectations. Attention to detail and adherence to nutrition, sanitation regulations, and safety standards are vital components of daily duties. The role also involves assisting the kitchen manager with various tasks, managing inventory stocking, and maintaining cleanliness of the work area and kitchen equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Prior experience in line cook, prep cook, grill cook, fry cook, chef, restaurant crew member, restaurant team member or other part time BOH restaurant job preferred
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work 30 hours per week

  • Ability to follow health and safety regulations
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to work full time or part time

Job Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
  • Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with industry’s best practices

Job Duties

  • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies
  • Assist kitchen manager with daily tasks
  • Prepare food to the exact specifications and to set up stations for menu
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, prepping meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Answer, report and follow the managers instructions
  • Clean up station and kitchen equipment
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
