This role involves preparing food in a specified area of the kitchen, such as the vegetable prep, grill station, or other designated lines. The Line Cook plays a critical role in ensuring that each meal component is cooked efficiently, accurately, and to the restaurant’s quality standards. This position is essential in coordinating with other cooks along the line to maintain proper timing and presentation so that all plates are ready simultaneously for service. The Line Cook works under the guidance of the head or sous chef and is responsible for assisting in various food preparation activities including cutting, marinating, and precooking ingredients. You'll also be helping set up the kitchen before service begins, maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout your shift, and participating in closing duties such as wrapping unused items and sanitizing work areas. This role demands not only technical culinary skills but also teamwork, time management, and the ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Whether you are assembling dishes, adding garnishments, or ensuring sanitary conditions, your contribution directly impacts the guest’s experience and overall kitchen efficiency. Job Requirements
- High school diploma
- on-the-job training
- stands on feet for long periods of time while cutting, stirring, grilling, frying and otherwise preparing food
- performs heavy lifting by carrying large sacks of flour, sugar, meats, vegetables and other ingredients
- works odd hours like late evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays
- endures hot temperatures, loud noises and some stress in the fast-paced kitchen environment

Job Duties
- Helps set up the whole kitchen prior to a restaurant's opening
- sets up a station by bringing all containers of necessary food items to that point in the line
- cooks a specific portion of each plated meal as assigned by either the head or sous chef
- assists with cutting, marinating and precooking foods
- keeps pace with other cooks on the line so that all food is ready for each plate at the same time
- steps in to help another line cook who is running behind
- assembles dishes and provides garnishment
