The role of a Baker at Polly's Bakery is vital to the continued success and reputation of the establishment. This position involves hands-on preparation and baking of a variety of products, including breads, rolls, cookies, breakfast items, and seasonal fruit pies. The baker will be responsible for following established recipes and portion sizes meticulously, ensuring that every item meets Polly’s high standards. Alongside baking duties, the role also includes managing daily production schedules, maintaining communication with the coaching team to track product counts, and ensuring proper inventory rotation to uphold freshness. In addition to the core baking responsibilities, the baker is expected to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of their workstations and all baking equipment, abiding by health and safety regulations rigorously. This role demands a proactive and dependable individual who can work independently while escalating issues as they arise. Flexibility is also key, with expectations to cross-train in other kitchen functions and to work varied shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

  • At least 1 year prior work experience as a cook, baker, or culinary program enrollment
  • ability to use scales, thermometers, measuring tools, and to divide and multiply recipes
  • good organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
  • experience using baking equipment such as ovens and mixers
  • understanding of kitchen safety and food safety guidelines
  • possession of a valid Food Handlers Card if required by county
  • ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • At least 1 year prior work experience as a cook, baker, or enrollment in a culinary program

  • experience working with baking equipment including oven, mixers, etc
  • clear understanding of kitchen and food safety guidelines
  • valid Food Handlers Card (if required by county)

Job Duties

  • Prepare products using all methods, established portions, and recipes for baking preparation
  • manages daily production and communication of product counts with Coaching team
  • prepare breakfast items for bake including quiche, cinnamon rolls, muffins, etc
  • prepare and bake bread items including loaves, buns, rolls, cookies, etc
  • daily preparation of seasonal fresh fruit for pies and toppings
  • clean all bake related machines, workstations, transit trays, and instruments too large for dishwasher
  • responsible to properly label, organize and rotate bake ingredients in freeze and storage areas
  • rotates bake inventory (merchandise and product supplies) to maintain freshness and quality, make products fresh daily
  • receive orders, check invoices, and put deliveries away as needed
  • prepare kitchen for the day including making sure everything is secure, lighting the oven, etc
  • notify the Coaches of any food quality issues, inconsistencies of product with recipes, low inventory, etc
  • maintain a clean and sanitary bake area and station at all times
  • comply with established weight and measures, health, sanitation, and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • protect the Brand through promoting and providing extraordinary service when interacting with team members and guests
  • demonstrate dependable leadership qualities to work primarily unassisted, and is proactive to escalate matters as needed
  • flexible to cross train in other functions for back of the house/kitchen areas
  • must be available to work morning, afternoon, and evening shifts
  • includes weekends and holidays
