Job Description

Sifted is a pioneering food platform that dramatically redefines what workplace dining means across the United States. Founded in 2015 by Kimberly Lexow and Jess Legge, Sifted started with a bold vision to transform everyday office food into an experience built on hospitality, sustainability, and intentionality. Unlike traditional caterers, Sifted serves as a dedicated workplace food partner, emphasizing culture, community, and eco-conscious choices for hundreds of companies nationwide. The company is recognized for cultivating meaningful, stable, and opportunity-filled careers within hospitality, blending the expertise of hospitality pros, culinary experts, technologists, and innovators to create a vibrant and supportive work environment. Sifted takes pride in its exceptional team retention, with employees staying three times longer than the industry average, thanks to a culture fostering creative freedom, hospitality-driven service, career development, empathy, and impactful work. The company offers flexible schedules, generous perks, and ample room for growth, making it an ideal workplace for builders, operators, creatives, and craftspeople who are passionate about making businesses better through the power of food.

About the role: Sifted is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Line Cook to join their busy Austin Kitchen team. This full-time position, with shifts running Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm, offers a competitive starting wage of $20 per hour. As a Line Cook, you will be heating up the kitchen in a fast-paced environment while supporting some of the hottest startups by providing fresh, delicious daily lunch meals. Working side by side with an experienced executive chef in the company's commissary kitchen, this role offers an excellent opportunity to grow your culinary skills, learn diverse cooking methods, and become an essential part of a passionate food team.

The ideal candidate is a disciplined, responsive team player with previous kitchen experience such as line cook, prep cook, or dishwasher. Experience in catering and event servicing is highly valued, as is strong communication proficiency and familiarity with Google applications and Microsoft Office. This role requires maintaining a ServSafe Food Handler certification, physical stamina to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods, along with the ability to bend, squat, and reach. A constant commitment to cleanliness, clear communication, and ownership of tasks ensures the kitchen runs efficiently and meets clients’ needs. Sifted supports its team with excellent perks including company-sponsored health insurance plans featuring 100% company-paid high-deductible health plans (HDHP), vision and dental opt-in coverage, 80 hours of paid time off per year plus a paid winter break from December 24 to January 1, eligibility for an optional 401(k) after six months, and complimentary lunch during work shifts. As a fast-growing startup, Sifted offers a dynamic environment where employees can step into larger roles and expand their expertise while contributing to sustainable food solutions and community impact. If you are passionate about great food, fostering meaningful work culture, and making an environmental difference, this position offers a rewarding platform to thrive and grow your culinary career.
