Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a vibrant restaurant chain rooted deeply in the culture and spirit of Louisiana and the dynamic world of gameday excitement. Originating from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Walk-On's was founded by two LSU walk-on basketball players who transformed their determination and teamwork into a thriving business dedicated to delivering scratch-made dishes infused with Louisiana flair. Over the years, Walk-On's has expanded from a single location into a nationally recognized brand while maintaining its commitment to quality, culture, and community. The establishment delivers more than just food; it offers a high-energy gameday atmosphere that brings people together to celebrate sports, food, and hospitality. Their kitchens are the heart of the operation, where creativity, precision, and enthusiasm come together to provide guests with unforgettable culinary experiences.
At Walk-On's, the role of a cook is integral to upholding the brand’s standards and ensuring guests receive the best in flavor and presentation. Now hiring for part-time, non-exempt cook positions, the company is seeking motivated individuals to join their kitchen teams. Reporting to the Kitchen Manager or Manager on Duty, cooks at Walk-On's play a pivotal role in executing chef-driven recipes across various stations, including prep, fry, line, grill, salad, and sandwich stations. This position requires a team-first attitude, reliability, and a passion for food safety and quality. Cooks are expected to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that mirrors the bustling energy of gameday. The role involves prepping ingredients, cooking to order, properly plating dishes, and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen space.
This opportunity is perfect for those eager to grow within the food service industry, as Walk-On’s offers not only flexible scheduling suitable for students or those balancing other commitments but also clear pathways for advancement. The culture within Walk-On’s kitchens is built on camaraderie, hustle, and a championship spirit where every team member’s contribution is valued. Employees learn to handle kitchen equipment with expertise, follow stringent food rotation and labeling standards to ensure ingredient freshness, and uphold HACCP standards for food safety. The dress code emphasizes professionalism and safety, requiring black closed-toe shoes, long black pants with a belt, Walk-On’s approved back-of-house shirts, and appropriate hair coverings.
Walk-On’s is committed to diversity and inclusion, declaring itself an Equal Opportunity Employer that values each team member's unique contributions. This part-time role is ideal for individuals who are dependable, organized, quick learners, and who take pride in delivering championship-quality dishes in a spirited environment. If you are someone who enjoys working in a team, thrives under pressure, and values a culture of growth and mutual support, this cook position at Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux promises a rewarding experience where every shift is energized and every team member is empowered to shine.
